Dr Bongeka Khumalo — Qualifications, Clinical Approach & Outreach Mission
Dr Bongeka Khumalo holds a Master of Technology in Chiropractic from the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and practises from Spark Lifestyle Centre in Overport, Durban, alongside weekly and monthly satellite clinics across KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.
Guided by the clinical philosophy “Where every adjustment matters”, every consultation begins with a structured orthopaedic, neurological and spinal examination before any hands-on therapy is performed.
Qualifications, registration & clinical background
Dr Bongeka Khumalo completed her Master of Technology in Chiropractic (MTech Chiropractic) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), one of South Africa's premier accredited tertiary institutions for chiropractic education and clinical biomechanics. Her postgraduate training encompassed musculoskeletal diagnostics, orthopaedic and neurological physical examination, spinal and peripheral manipulative therapy, myofascial dry needling, radiographic interpretation, and rehabilitative exercise prescription.
Registered as an independent Chiropractor with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA Registration No. A12499) and accredited with the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF Practice No. 1029355), Dr Khumalo brings over three years of dedicated clinical practice experience to every consultation. Guided by her practice ethos — 'Where every adjustment matters' — she takes time to listen carefully, examine thoroughly, and explain clinical findings in clear, accessible language.
Fluent across South African languages — with consultations comfortably supported for English, isiZulu, isiXhosa, Setswana, Sesotho, and siSwati speakers — Dr Khumalo ensures that patients from all walks of life can describe their symptoms accurately and participate actively in their recovery plan.
Multi-modal clinical philosophy & satellite outreach
Mechanical pain rarely exists in isolation: a restricted spinal facet joint triggers protective spasm in the surrounding muscles, while chronic myofascial trigger points pull joints back into strained alignment. For this reason, Dr Khumalo combines manual spinal manipulation and joint mobilisation with sterile myofascial dry needling, ischaemic compression, TENS electrotherapy, gentle Activator instrument adjustments, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching.
Recognising that patients in regional towns and rural districts often face long journeys to access registered chiropractic care, Dr Khumalo established a structured outreach network alongside her full-time Overport rooms at Spark Lifestyle Centre. Every Monday she consults from 09:00 to 19:00 at KwaDukuza Mall in Stanger, and each month she travels to scheduled satellite clinics in Empangeni (Fairview), Pongola, Jozini, Ulundi, Mthatha, and Matatiele to bring consistent, ethical musculoskeletal care closer to local communities.

How she works
Diagnostic Thoroughness First

Individualised, Multi-Modal Care
Treatment techniques are matched to your age, bone health, symptom severity, and preference — from classic manual adjustments and dry needling to gentle Activator instrument impulses and PNF rehabilitation.
Accessible Regional Healthcare
By combining central Durban rooms at Spark Lifestyle Centre with weekly KwaDukuza and monthly KZN and Eastern Cape outreach clinics, we make registered chiropractic care accessible to both urban and regional families.
